Enchanted Evening, A Brush of Elegance; A Stroke of Genius
September 27, 2008
Hearst Castle Colonnade & Terraces
In conjunction with the 50th anniversary, 2008 marks the 10th annual prestigious Enchanted
Evening at Hearst Castle. This is not just “some enchanted evening”, but rather a special
evening of elegance that has been ten years in the making. This year’s theme of A Brush
of Elegance; A Stroke of Genius will be expressed with an artful affaire, focusing on the
fine, decorative and culinary arts.
An evening of sophisticated elegance, the night begins with an
outdoor wine reception overlooking the Neptune Pool and a dazzling view of the
sunset over the Pacific Ocean. Under a canopy of stars,
guests are escorted to their dining table in a beautifully appointed tent on the North
Terrace for a premiere gourmet dinner inspired by fresh, local foods expertly prepared
by renowned Central Coast Chef Maegen Loring. As the major fundraising event of the
year for Friends of Hearst Castle, guests can bid on unique Hearst Castle-inspired
items and experiences such as swims in the Roman or Neptune pools, or special private
Castle tours. Other auction items include marvelous trips and packages to Los Angeles,
the Bay Area, Colorado and a family vacation package in San Diego. Bid on exclusive
Central Coast wine and food packages and an opportunity to win tickets to the sold out
Holiday Feast in early December. This year is most unique as an original oil painting
created by nationally recognized, local artist Elizabeth (Libby) Tolley will also go to
the block . A canopy of stars lights up after-dinner dancing on the Neptune Terrace to
complete an escape from reality and an “art-venture” into a bygone era of indulgence.
Enchanted Evening is truly a magical evening reminiscent of the splendor and glamour of
La Cuesta Encantada, when W.R. Hearst entertained and everyone dreamed of an invitation.
Cost: $325.00 per person
